COMMUNITY INITIATIVES-Eco and Cultural Tourism

  •  Eco and cultural tourism
Building on a relationship of over 45 years with the local communities
Folklore Foundation is examining ways of providing alternatives for the communities by supporting and promoting small-scale low impact  cultural study tourism to the area.

There is a need to make ecotourism a grass root, community based movement through awareness, education and training of the local community as guides and interpreters
Our low impact tourism program will directly not only benefit the community but will also assist us in funding studies to help the community’s better plan their future.

We hope that more people and institutions will place importance in the care
and preservation of our cultural heritage and projects such as this will impact in the near future on our understanding and knowledge of our past

Working with the community on creating greater awareness, pride, a sense of identity linked to their cultural heritage and indigenous traditions, resulting in a strong sense of participation and ownership in the development process of the region.

Creating unique learning /educational experiences that will result in a transformation in attitudes on the part of both indirect beneficiaries (tourists) as well as direct beneficiaries (local host communities).
